Finally! A readable book on vocabulary

I've been searching for a book like this for years, and I finally found it. It's a book that you can just read, and then your vocabulary gets better. No mnemonic tricks. No boring lists. No memorization. This book just tells very interesting stories about words, and gives a bunch of cool examples about the words, and I learned the words very quickly. I found myself learning vocabulary much quicker than with any other method I've tried.

I really liked how many words had roots in Greek mythology.

This had a great mix of vocabulary. It's only 100 words, but I really liked that, because the book was able to delve into each word with a good amount of detail.

learning new words is fun

This is a great book of interesting words to boost your vocabulary. It is 10 chapters with 10 words in each chapter. There is a story of the words' origins or its use and then synonyms or similiar words, antonyms, and several exercises to see if you can match the word with its definition or use in a sentence correctly. There is also a long multiple choice test in the end. sample words: cupidity, ephemeral, decimate, indolent, procrustean, prosaic.

this is definitely the best vocabulary book i've seen. unlike other books which just give you bunch of words and their definitions, every word that's in this book is followed by a short, interesting story that shows the history of these words. it is clear that the author has put in a great amount of time and effort into writing this wonderful book.

About the Author
Sumit Ganguly is a Professor of Political Science and the Rabindranath Tagore Chair in Indian Cultures and Civilizations at Indiana University, Bloomington. He is the author of numerous books including India's Foreign Policy: Retrospect and Prospect (2010); Nuclear Proliferation in South Asia, with S. Paul Kapur (2008); and The Routledge Handbook of Asian Security Studies (2010), co-edited with Andrew Scobell and Joseph Liow.

Rahul Mukherji is Associate Professor of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore. He is the editor of India's Economic Transition: The Politics of Reforms (2007) and India: The Political Economy of Reforms (2004), co-edited with Bibek Debroy.

Gate Dielectrics and MOS ULSIs provides necessary and sufficient information for those who wish to know well and go beyond the conventional SiO2 gate dielectric. The topics particularly focus on dielectric films satisfying the superior quality needed for gate dielectrics even in large-scale integration. And since the quality requirements are rather different between device applications, they are selected in an applicatipn-oriented manner, e.g., conventional SiO2 used in CMOS logic circuits, nitrided oxides, which recently became indispensable for flash memories, and composite ONO and ferroelectric films for passive capacitors used in DRAM applications. The book also covers issues common to all gate dielectrics, such as MOSFET physics, evaluation, scaling, and device application/integration for successful development. The information is as up to date as possible, especially for nanometer-range ultrathin gate-dielectric films indispensible in submicrometer ULSIs. The text together with abundant illustrations will take even the inexperienced reader up to the present high state of the art. It is the first book presenting nitrided gate oxides in detail.

It covers the most important issues about gate dielectric from the fundamentals and historical review to state-of-art gate oxide technology. About the Author
Michael S. Wolf was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1948. He attended Webb School (Bell Buckle, Tennessee), Stanford University, and Louisiana State University Law School. He has practiced law in Louisiana and other American jurisdictions since 1973. His earliest spiritual training consisted of Catholicism, eventually supplemented by the Christian Yoga of J.-M. Dechanet, the Joyous Cosmology of Alan Watts, and the Fourth Way of G. I. Gurdjieff. Since the early 1970s Wolf has been a student of buddhadharma, drawing his main influences from the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and from the Soto Zen tradition of Japanese and Chinese Buddhism. His main dharma teacher is Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, abbot of Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery, located in Woodstock, New York. Wolf resides in Baton Rouge with his wife, Lessie Johnson. They have a grown daughter, and they are trying to age gracefully as Wolf pursues literary and legal projects and carries on a long-running campaign for civic and ideological reform.

A great all-around management book

From the title, I thought this would be about improving the front desk. I was completely wrong. This is among the very best books I read while studying for my CVPM. It covers all aspects of the job, it's well organized, and it's well written.

Way too much text and not enough real life applications. It claims to come with a website but only instructors can access it. The test bank it comes with for instructors come with almost paragraph long questions and several sentence long possible answers- as many options as A-G. This make tests extremely long and difficult. The tests from this book's test bank are also opinionated, yet the book in it's reading does not state what it's opinion or point of view is. This book was very frustrating for students and instructors.
