MATT DUGGAN is from Alberta and grew up there and in Manitoba. About the Author
Michael Burgan has written numerous books for children and young adults during his nearly 20 years as a freelance writer. Many of his books have focused on U.S. history, geography, and the lives of world leaders. He has also written fiction and adapted classic novels. Michael has won several awards for his writing, and his graphic novel version of the classic tale Frankenstein (Stone Arch Books) was a Junior Library Guild selection.� Michael has also worked as an editor at Weekly Reader, the classroom news magazine used in schools across the United States. Michael graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in history. When not writing for kids, he enjoys writing plays, and his works have been staged across the United States. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with his cat, Callie.

Richard Dominguez was born Eufrancio Ricardo Dominguez to Ricardo and Juanita Dominguez in Dallas, Texas on September 22, 1960. The second of seven children, Richard grew up in a section of West Dallas known during the Great Depression as 'The Devil's Back Porch'. Dominguez recalls his first exposure to comic books at the age of six, when he began sneaking in to his Uncle's room to read from his large comic book collections. In high school Richard enrolled in Commercial Art and later took Life Drawing classes at a community college before taking a job at a local supermarket chain to create and paint point-of-purchase displays. During the late '80s and early '90s, Richard worked as an intern for several art and design studios, later designing logos for Semi-Pro Sports teams and small companies.

Good Graphic Book about Nat Turner's Slave Rebellion!

This is another Graphic History book from the Graphic Library of Capstone books. I use them for my ESOL students who are learning to read English as well as American History. I found this book interesting because I didn't know much about Nat Turner myself. Very good.

Great Book for Those of Us Not Raised in the Latin Tradition

This is not a songbook. It is an instruction book, and in my opinion the section on "clave" alone is worth the price. Even if you are not a pianist this book will help you understand the form of the music. The CDs are not filled with complete songs, they are meant to illustrate the ideas expressed in the book. Mauleon does give suggestions about what to listen to, most of which I've been able to find on my monthly subscription music service.

The rhythm of Latin Music is not familiar to us who grew up with music in standard 4/4 or 2/2 time. But we can learn it; if we put in the effort. If you doubt that, check out Michael Spiro.

This is a really great book. It not only shows archetypal montunos within a theoretical framework, it also provides a lot of historical context for montunos in different Cuban music styles. I'm no expert, but this book seems extremely well researched. It is not just a method book. It is an ethnomusicological work. Contains both Spanish and English, which I really appreciate, since the Spanish musical terms are rarely translated (or translated systematically) - people just use them and expect you to learn them in Spanish. Which is fine for musicians, but I like it that someone has take the trouble to verbally express these musical ideas in two idioms. Thorough and learned.

About the Author
James A. Hall is a Professor of Accounting, Co-Director of the Computer Science and Business program, and the Peter E. Bennett Chair in Business and Economics at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. After his discharge from the U.S. Army, he entered the University of Tulsa in 1970 and received a BSBA in 1974 and an MBA in 1976. He earned his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University in 1979. Hall has worked in the field of systems analysis and computer auditing, and has served as consultant in these areas to numerous organizations. Dr. Hall has published articles in the JOURNAL OF ACCOUNTING, AUDITING & FINANCE, JOURNAL OF MIS, COMMUNICATIONS OF THE ACM, JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS, MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING, JOURNAL OF COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS, THE JOURNAL OF ACCOUNTING EDUCATION, THE REVIEW OF ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEMS, and other professional journals. He is also the author of ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEMS, 9E, published by South-Western College Publishing. His research interests include internal controls, computer fraud, and IT outsourcing.

Tommie Singleton is the Marshall IS Scholar and assistant professor of information systems at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy, he completed his BS in Accounting in 1977, and an MBA in 1979, both at the University of North Alabama. Professor Singleton received his doctorate from the University of Mississippi in 1995, after spending 11 years as president of a small software company. His career is a mix of accounting and information systems (IS) and includes consulting and providing continuing education to professionals regarding auditing and IS. He earned certifications as CPA, CMA, CISA, and CITP. In 1999, the Alabama Society of CPAs awarded him the �Innovative User of Technology Award� for 1998-1999. Professor Singleton has published articles in the Information Systems Control Journal, EDPACS, Journal of Cooperative Accounting, Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance, Managerial Auditing Journal, and others. He also coauthored the third edition of Managing the Audit Function with Michael Cangemi, released in 2003.
