About the Author

Robin Alter, PhD, CPsych, received her undergraduate degree from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, and her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.�She was the head of the children's program at Tri-County Mental Health in Northern Florida before moving to Toronto, ON, Canada, where she has been working in children’s mental health in since 1980. Alter has been employed by two of the largest children’s mental health centers in the Toronto area for over thirty-six years—The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre, and Blue Hills Child and Family Centre.

Alter also works with Anishnawbe Health Toronto, providing fetal alcohol assessments for the people of the First Nations community. She has taught psychology at York University, and maintains a private practice with Alter, Stuckler and Associates in the Toronto area. She is a trustee with the Psychology Foundation of Canada. Alter gives many public lectures to parent groups, teachers, and principals, and has been on numerous radio and television programs talking about children’s mental health issues. She is author of Anxiety and the Gift of Imagination, and is the anxiety expert for the website, the ABCs of Mental Health.

Crystal Clarke, MSW, RSW, received her undergraduate social work degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada in 2007. Before continuing on to complete her master’s degree, Clarke worked as a social worker in the Department of Child, Youth and Family Services in the city of St. John’s, NL, Canada, while also supporting foster families through her involvement on the board of the Newfoundland and Labrador Foster Families Association. Clarke received her master’s of social work degree at the University of Toronto in 2010, where she specialized in clinical practice with children and families, and also completed the collaborative program in addiction studies. By 2009, Clarke was involved with The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre, one of the largest children’s mental health centers in Toronto, ON, Canada, where she was employed as a child and family therapist until 2016, when she moved to the Toronto District School Board to work as a social worker with school-aged children and their families.

Additionally, Clarke maintains her own private practice, Clarke Psychotherapy, in Toronto. In 2015, Clarke was also appointed as an adjunct lecturer for the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto as a result of her ongoing commitment to the training and supervision of social work students. Clarke continues to expand upon her own knowledge and expertise in the field of mental health through her training at the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.

About the Author

William A. Schabas, Professor of International Law, University of Middlesex

William A. Schabas is professor of international law at Middlesex University in London. He is also professor of international human law and human rights at Leiden University, emeritus professor of human rights law at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and honorary chairman of the Irish Centre for Human Rights. Professor Schabas holds BA and MA degrees in history from the University of Toronto and LLB, LLM, and LLD degrees from the University of Montreal, as well as several honorary doctorates. He is the author of more than twenty books and 350 articles dealing with international human rights law, the International Criminal Court, and genocide, and is the author of the highly-acclaimed Commentary on the International Criminal Court. Professor Schabas was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2006. He was elected a member of the Royal Irish Academy in 2007.

Absolutely fantastic!

She experiences flashbacks of horrible events and is going through hell. She is living her daily trauma over and over, feeling suffocated and lonely. Can she get her sanity and her life back? Someone from her past walked back in her life. Someone she must protect. Danger is lurking in the shadow, watching her in a creepy way and intervening in her life. The unmasking was mind blowing, shocking and very surprising. I feel the adrenaline rush, my breath quickens and my heart races. I couldn't put this book down. What a read! This book deals with the reality of a vet suffering from PTSD. It gives you insight to their struggle. It's a vivid story about survival, pain, strength, hope and a passionate beautifully intense love story. It is a brilliant, captivating and emotional read. Rhavensfyre did an excellent job with describing the PTSD without going overboard. This book is definitely at the top of my reading list.

If you've been craving a good book to read

If you've been craving a good book to read, then stop and pull up a chair. This is the kind of novel that begs to be devoured in one sitting.
I hate reviews that give away the story, so I won't do that here.

Expect a relationship between two strong female characters that starts with a delicious slow burn and builds to fiery climax (no pun intended). Ransom is a fractured soul afraid to let love back into her heart, but unable to deny the growing feelings she has for Victoria. This is the type of character that Rhavensfyre excels at bringing to life. For her part, Victoria is a convincing blend of sophistication and naivet�. More at home in the city than on the farm in Johnsonville, she tends to see the best in people -- even at the risk of her own life.
I could go on, but just take my word for it. This is not one that you want to miss.

I could not put it down with a rollercoaster ride through intrigue and red herrings. SO MUCH FUN

This is clearly a 10 star book. I read this book in one setting as I could not put it down with a rollercoaster ride through intrigue and red herrings. Victoria's struggles past the clich�d damsel in distress and revelation of her true self. Ransom is a wonderful mush well wound and wrapped. In my past reading adventures, I took pride in figuring out "who dunnit" early on in the story. Not this time. It was not until the very end of the book that these very talented writers revealed the real protagonist and the motivation. So well done!! So much fun!! Absolutely delightful ending in true Rhavensfyre style!!
